Galaxy M, The Latest Budget Smartphone Series

The thought dates back to 2017. When Samsung, India’s number one smartphone company, lost its position at the top of the charts. Samsung has always offered premium quality devices at a premium price. But the increase in demand for budget devices led the company to the 3rd position. Several other brands emerged up with comparatively less expensive and more feature rich devices.

But Samsung has not lost its hope. Instead, the Korean beast is back with a smartphone lineup that has been focused on the lower cost end of the market. Galaxy M series is the buzz around. Let’s talk about it. Under the latest budget oriented series launched by the company, there are three smartphones that have come out and already are a success.

Galaxy M10, galaxy M20, galaxy M30. In ascending order of price and features, let’s begin.

Samsung Galaxy M10, launched in the first quarter of the year, is the first device in the series. This comes with a 15.8cm (6.22”) HD+ Infinity V Display (the notch design is in “V” shape) with 19:9 Aspect ratio 90% screen to body ratio. The pixel per inch density here is 270ppi which is a bit lower as compared to other devices in this price range. The dual rear camera comes with a 13MP (f/1.9) primary shooter and a 5MP (f/2.2) secondary ultra-wide angle shooter with a 120o field of view. You can click good low light shots. Portrait shots are also great, with the live focus feature. The front camera is a single 5MP (f/2.0) shooter within display flash, and also comes with selfie focus.

The device is shipped with Exynos 7870(1.6 GHz) octa-core processor, which is a powerful and efficient processor and the Samsung Experience v9.5 makes the usage even better. Dual sim with Dual VoLTE is the sim configuration, which is a good thing. There are two colours available, which the company likes to call “Ocean Blue” and “Charcoal Black” and the body is surprisingly thin, just 7.7mm across. The device also supports face unlock and has a 3400mAh battery which should last about a day. And to my amazement, Samsung has also included Accelerometer, Proximity Sensors and Virtual Light Sensor, which are pretty basic but have included for this price point, for the first time.

There are two variants of the device, one is the 2GB+16GB model, which is priced at 7990INR. The upper model, 3GB+32GB, is priced at a minimal 8990INR. Considering the price point, the company is offering pretty decent specifications at a minimal cost. If you are a tight budget and want to be a part of the Samsung family, this device is your go through.
