The Melbourne Cup, or Australia’s answer to the Kentucky Derby, has been named “the world’s Drunkest Sporting event” following years of drunken antics at the yearly event. It begs the question whether the people are actually there for the races, or if they are just there for a good old fashioned knees up?

Visitors have been kicked out of the event due to their behavior! From sleeping in shrubs to puking and piggybacks, you can see a wide range of antics at the Melbourne Cup!

If you think that horse-racing events are all about fancy hats and watching the actual event, then you are quite wrong. Visitors seem to lose track of their alcohol consumption and get up to all sorts in the sun! Men seemed to like fighting a lot, whilst the women ditched their heels and took swigs of rosé…

Three people were kicked out and two were actually arrested for their behavior. Another woman was arrested for assaulting an anti-racing protester outside of the course.

So now you know why it’s been named the “world’s drunkest sporting event”…
