A Thursday Movie Story Review: Strong Concept

A Thursday Movie Story: Actress Yami Gautam is experimenting a lot with characters these days. While she was a part of horror-comedy in the film ‘Bhoot Police,’ she appeared in the role of Naina in the film ‘A Thursday’ released on Disney Plus Hotstar. It is the first film for Yami, whose entire responsibility is on her shoulder. Today we see about the review of Yami Gautam’s film A Thursday. According to Yami Gautam, this film is more than a psychological thriller. This script came to her at the time of lockdown in 2020.

A Thursday Movie Story

Behzad Khambata made his directorial debut with the film Blank released in 2019. The Story of that film was in the background of terrorism. This time he has raised a sensitive issue related to women but has faltered in raising it properly. However, raising this bold issue is his success. The film’s story is of Naina Jaiswal, a playschool teacher located in Colaba, Mumbai. Yami Gautam is present as Naina Jaiswal. Naina, who is on leave for 3 weeks, comes back to school. She kidnaps 16 children from the playschool, calls the police, and informs them. If her demands are not met, she threatens to kill the child one after the other. As soon as this news spreads, the parents of the children get worried about the children.

Review

A Thursday Movie Story: Naina Jaiswal shares all this information on social media. Breaking and opinion polls start running on TV as this news spreads. Naina tells her conditions. She is seen firing multiple times, shooting the hostage driver. But in the midst of all this, the children do not even realize that they are in her clutches. The script, written by Ashley Lobo and Behzad Khambata, has tried to be mysterious from the very beginning.
The motive and the issue of the perpetrator are yet to be clarified till the mystery is busted. Till then, it appears that the kidnapper is a mentally ill woman.

Behzad Khambata hypnotically lacks storytelling. Several flaws in the script make the story weak. Naina’s fiancee is a criminal lawyer, but she does not take his help. She feels that he should not leave her when he comes to know about the truth related to her life.
Similarly, the method of police investigation also does not arouse excitement and curiosity. Atul Kulkarni in the role of a police officer and Neha Dhupia’s character’s tussle have not been effective. Neha is pregnant in the movie. Even if it didn’t happen, there would be no impact on the story.

Loose story

A Thursday Movie Story: In the film, things like calling the Prime Minister to fulfill the demand and accepting the opinion polls dilute the sensitivity of the serious issue. Apart from this, the kidnapping of children is shown in the film. But those kids happily spend their day eating sandwiches and cakes. They have no flurry of questions or wickedness. Talking about acting, Yami Gautam has given a great performance. Despite a weak script, Dimple Kapadia has tried to handle her with her acting. Thus the story got loose with a serious issue. Despite this, the film is worth watching here. If you have time, you must watch this film and understand the serious issue related to it.
