IPL Auction 2022: The players’ auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League has started. Apart from the country, the franchise has also spent a lot of money on international players. England batsman Liam Livingstone was the most expensive player on the second day of the IPL auction. Punjab Kings joined him for Rs. 1.15 crore. In this way, Livingstone is the most expensive foreign player in this auction. Talking about the same thing for Mumbai Indians, they spent 8 crores on Jofra Archer, who will not play this season due to injury.

IPL Auction 2022 Highlights

All IPL teams spend a huge amount of money on current players of India. At the same time, more attention was paid to the players running in foreign countries. The franchise did not give any attention to big names like Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, Suresh Raina, and Ishant Sharma. Indian wicketkeeper Riddhiman Saha, Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, and England’s Sam Billings got the team in the second bid.
Gurajat bought David Miller of South Africa for Rs 3 crore. Cheteshwar Pujara did not find any buyer in the auction. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Ajinkya Rahane for his base price of Rs. 1000000. Mumbai bought Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun for Rs 300,000.

Super King bought Mahesh Tikshna, spinner of Sri Lanka, for Rs 7000000. The spinner impressed during India’s tour of Sri Lanka in July last year. Sunrise Hyderabad and Punjab Kings put in big money in this auction, while Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals looked strong in batting but a bit weak in bowling. Punjab also spent Rs. 60,00,000 for West Indies fast bowler Odeon Smith. The franchise also bid for India’s left-arm bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakriya. Khaleel sold for Rs 5 crore 25 lakh while Sakariya was sold for Rs 4 crore 20 lakh. All-rounder Shivam Dubey, among other Indian players, was picked up by CSK for Rs 4 crore because of his ability to hit sixes. Gujarat Titans bought young star Yash Dayal for Rs 3.20 crore. Yash Dayal from Prayagraj is a left-arm fast bowler and plays domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh.

Livingstone in highlights

The highlight of the first season was Livingstone, who got a contract worth more than 10 crores. At a time, 5 teams were bidding for him. Last season, Livingstone played for Rajasthan Royals and did not perform as expected on slow pitches. Players’ space was vacant in the franchise, so every team was eager to add him.

Money rained heavily on Tim David, who rocked the Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League. Mumbai Indians bought Tim for Rs 8.25 crore. His base price was Rs. 4000000. Tim David was included in RCB in the last session. However, this explosive batsman of tall stature got a chance to play in only one match in which he could score only 1 run. Tim David is a resident of Australia, and this time in the IPL Auction 2022, he registered the name of Australia as his country. However, he was born in Singapore and played international cricket for Singapore.

Raj Angad Baba, who made a splash for Team India in the Under 19 World Cup, was bought by Punjab Kings for two crore rupees. Captain Yash Dhull, who won India’s Under-19 World Cup, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 500000. Chennai Super Kings picked up Rajvardhan for Rs 1.50 crore in IPL Auction 2022.
