A New Mystery Of Stars: Death Of Stars Forms Planets?

Our Universe itself holds infinite astronomical mysteries. Scientists from all over the world are engaged to unravel this mystery of the universe. Some of these efforts have been successful by astronomers. Moving forward in this episode, astronomers have claimed to have uncovered a mystery. You would know that the planets in any galaxy are not much older than the stars. A new study by astronomers at KU Leuven has uncovered this and uncovered a new mystery of stars. Their study has given results that change this concept. This study was published in a journal called Astronomy and Astrophysics.

New Mystery Of Stars

According to the news, astronomers have claimed that when stars are nearing their death, there is a possibility of giving birth to a new planet inside them. If this claim is confirmed, then the theory of the formation of planets will need to be changed. According to the theory, we have read so far, all the planets in our solar system were formed only after the formation of the Sun. The formation of the Sun took place 460 million years ago. After a few million years of this, the matter around the Sun started accumulating in the form of a protoplanet. Planets originated from disks made of dust and gas of the same material. Because of this, all the planets revolve around the Sun in the same plane.

Therefore it can also be said that planets can also form independently apart from the formation process of stars. An example of this type of formation can be seen around Binary Stars, in which a star is dying. Binary stars are a pair of stars that revolve around each other to form a binary system.

Discs in binary stars

Astronomical mysteries: Usually, when a medium-sized star like the Sun nears its end, its outer atmosphere begins to scatter into space. After that, that star slowly starts dying. At this stage, it is called a white dwarf. But in binary stars, due to the force of gravity of one star, the matter of the dying star takes the form of a rotating flat disc. This disk formed in binary stars is very similar to the protoplanetary disk. Astronomers see this disk around young stars in our galaxy. This thing is not new, but what is known is that the possibility of planet formation is being seen in this disk. It is an unusual form. It is found in the system of one out of 10 binary stars.

New Mystery Of Stars: The first authors of the study confirm it. According to him, this does not happen in the system of all binary stars. The probability of this happening is 10%, i.e. 1 in 10 binary stars system can see the possibility of formation of planets. He said that more study is needed in this direction.
