Sam Dede is a Nigerian actor, director, politician and lecturer. He is one of the most educated Nigerian actor, he has been acting for many years and missing in action for couple of years now. He has won several awards and earned couple of nominations. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in year 2005. Aside acting, Sam is also an active politician, he is current Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency.

Early Life And Background

Sam Dede was born on 17th November 1965 in Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria. He 53 years old gentle man is a native of Okrika, a small village in Rivers State, in the south southern part of Nigeria but he was bred in Lagos, Nigeria.

Educational Background

The handsome, ever young and gentle man grew up in Lagos where he attended primary and secondary school. After his primary and secondary school education, Sam Dede proceeded to University of Port Harcourt in River State where he bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts. The following year he did his mandatory one year service, serving his father’s land, Nigeria. After his National Youth Service (NYSC), Sam came back to University of Port Harcourt and obtained his Masters Degree in Theatre Arts.

According to his official biography, Sam is currently a senior lecturer at the University of Port-Harcourt in River State where lectures in the Department of Theatre Arts.

Career

There is no doubt , Sam Dede is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood), he is one of the solid pillars that hold Nollywood and he is one of those Veteran that put Nollywood on the map. He has been in the business for over 20 years and he has successfully featured in more than 200 Nollywood movies.

Sam is also involved in politics. He was appointed by the River State Governor as the Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development in year 2012. He has won some awards and earned some nominations as well. In 2005, Sam Dede won the African Movie Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He has also bagged the award for Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

He is currently married with children. He currently based in Port Harcourt, River State in the south southern part of Nigeria. He combined both his lecturing job and movie acting but he has been missing in action some some years now.
