Who Is Joshua Dariye?
Born Joshua Chibi Dariye but widely known as Joshua Dariye, is a Nigerian politician and businessman , he is an Ex-Governor and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria . He was sworn into office as the Governor of Plateau State, Nigeria on May 29, 1999 after contesting and winning under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
When his first four years elapsed, he was re-elected for another four-year term starting in May 2003 and he was unfortunately impeached in November 2006 . Needful to emphasize, the impeachment was nullified by the Nigerian appeal court in March 2007, the decision upheld by the Supreme Court after a month returned him to the office to complete his tenure.

He played a very significant role during President Olusegun Obasanjo election, he was a strong mobilizer for the election in the People’s Democratic Party Primaries in 1999 as well as Obasanjo’s re-election in 2003. He was appointed as the chairman of the Governors’ forum of the States in Northern Nigeria at the regional level
Political Life
He succeeded after contesting for the position of Governor of Plateau State Nigeria on May 29, 1999. He projected himself under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). After spending his first four years in the office, he was re-elected for another four-year term beginning from May 2003.
While he was the Governor of Plateau State, he was arrested along in London, England on 20 January 2004, with large sums of money. It is notable that serving governors have resistance to criminal prosecution and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) waited till year 2007 and charged him to court for money laundering. According to the statement released by EFCC, he stole about $9m of public funds and of money laundering.
Joshua Dariye Jailed
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, on Tuesday 12th June, 2018 sentenced Dariye to 14 years’ imprisonment on the charges of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds (1.6 billion naira) while he was the Governor of Plateau state

Joshua Dariye was elected Senator for Plateau Central on the Labour Party platform in April 2011. The famous politician earned a total of 189,140 votes, while Dawuda Gowon of the PDP, younger brother of former head of state Yakubu Gowon, who earned 160,106 votes. From the figures above, it is easily understood that Dariye has the highest number of votes.
