Rikhado Makhado aka Riky Rick was born on 20th July 1987 in KwaMashu, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He was birthed in the KwaMashu township located in the north of the city of Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Music Career

Riky Rick professional music career started at a recording studio session with Bongani Fassie. He was inspired to pursue music as his career when he became a close friend to Bongani Fassie, that was when he made up his mind to become a rapper. After few months into his professional music career , Rick released his first single “Barbershop” featuring Da L.E.S. He rose to recognition after the release of his hit single Nafukwa which was a big success.

He also went on to released Amantombozane which was followed by Amantombozane (Remix) featuring fellow South African recording artists OkMalumkoolKat, Maggz, Kwesta, Ginger Bread Man, Kid X, Nadia Nakai and DJ Dimplez.

He then spawn his fifth hit single Sondela, a heart touching song dedicated to his real love, featuring Zano. Fast forward to 26 of June, he released the single, Sidlukotini which recorded a massive success due to it acceptance.

Just recently, he released the Scooby Snacks EP that featuring only one artist, Frank Casino. This EP is home for tracks like ‘Oh Lord’, ‘Bandz Over Fans’ and ‘Family’ (featuring Frank Casino). On the 15th of September 2017, he also released a new song Buy It Out which is currently enjoying air-waves till this moment.

In October 2017, he spawned a fresh EP and he titled this “Stay Shining” , it was released under his record label imprint “Cotton Club Records” and was proudly distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Africa. The highly anticipated Ep featured some of the best South African musicians and producers , the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Professor, Major League Djz and producer Alie Keys. Rick then released a follow-up single from the EP “Murdah” , Nigerian musician Davido and Gemini Major was invited to the booth on this one.

Personal Life

The South African rapper once suffered with an alcohol and drug addiction which lasted for a very long period of time before he was able to redeem himself. According to revelations, he has been clean for 1 year and we hope it remain like this forever because we don’t want him to return to that life that is capable of ruining his career and life.

He has a son and a daughter, the name of his son is Maik Daniel Makhado and he was featured on the album cover of Family Values. According to him, his greatest joy is his son and everything seems to be falling apart the love he has for his children is what makes him strong and never give up no matter the circumstances in find himself in.

After performing at Back to the City this past weekend, Riky took to social media to announce the performance would his last for a while.

“Friends and family, I apologize sincerely to everybody who will be effected but I am not in the right place mentally to continue doing shows or anything that involves leaving my children. I am taking time to find my faith before I lose the connection with the people I love the most,”

“Being a “celebrity” its difficult to tell people I ain’t feeling well. It’s difficult to take time away because people expect you to be superhuman. I am not superhuman. I’m just another human being who wants to find some sort of peace and happiness in life. I’m sorry.”
