Tiwatope Savage-Balogun prefered to be seen as Tiwa Savage as her stage name, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress who is currently signed to Mavin Records . Tiwa Savage was born on the 5th of February, 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos. The Nigerian song-tress currently has a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She joined Mavin Records in 2012 and she also signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation in June 2016, which she later announced via Instagram.

Once Upon a Time, on 3 July 2013. The album had some cool songs like “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and “Eminado”. She released her second album , R.E.D,  on the 19th of December 2015. This second album gave birth to tracks like “My Darlin'”, “African Waist” and “If I Start To Talk”. Early Life, Career Beginnings

Tiwa Savage was born on the 5th of February, 1980 in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State. When she was only 11 years old when her parents relocated to London and she went along with them. She was a trombone player for her school’s orchestra band while attending high school and she was very active and well known. She was brought up in a multicultural setting due to her migration from Nigeria to the United Kingdom when should learned inter-cultural integration. Tiwa also lived in the United States of America at some point. She attended University of Kent where she obtained a degree in Business administration. From there, she started working at The Royal Bank of Scotland. She was a backup vocals for George Michael at the age of 16, she was also back up singer for several other singers like Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly  Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, and Ms. Dynamite. She was also opportuned to performed on stage with foreign Singers including 50 Cent, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Robbie Williams and Destiny’s Child, to name a few.

She also attended Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music at the age of 27. In 2006, She participated in the UK edition of The X Factor and advanced to the final 24 while attending the aforementioned music school. She had difficulty dealing with the limelight, while participating in the popular music competition franchise. Sony/ATV Music Publishing signed Savage to a music deal in 2009, the deal gave her wings to write for Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia Barrino, Monica and Mýa. Her co-writing with Fantasia on the song “Collard Greens & Cornbread” earned the American recording artist a Grammy nomination in 2010. The talented songtress was the co-hosted of the second season of Nigerian Idol alongside IllRymz held in December 2011. Tiwa Savage added another feather to a career when she made her film debut with Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle in the stage adaptation of For Coloured Girls. Professional Music Career

Tiwa’s first big public appearance in Nigeria was at the 2010 Hip Hop World Awards which held in March. She entered the Nigerian entertainment scene with Brut-force with her hit single ‘Kele Kele’ love . She officially burst onto the booming African music scene in 2010 . Soon after that, she immediately followed with another hit single ‘Love me’ and all we can remember is that she has been hitting us with back to back with hits since then.

In November 2012, Savage collaborated with Waje, Praiz, Timi Dakolo and Pamela Egoh on the Ovation Red Carol Theme Song “Higer”. In May 2013, Savage held an album listening party at the Wheat Baker Hotel in Ikoyi. She used that opportunity to reveal the entire track list of the album and announced Iceberg Slim, Sarkodie and General Pype as the featured artists. She released her long awaited debut album, Once Upon a Time on the 3rd of July 2013. On 31 January 2014, Savage released “Love in Yellow”, a promotional single meant to celebrate Valentine’s Day 2014.

Savage was featured on “Turn It Up”, a song by one of Mavin Records’ act Reekado Banks. On 1 May 2014, Mavin Records released “Dorobucci” featuring Savage, Don Jazzy, Dr SID, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’Ja. “Dorobucci” is undoubtedly their biggest hit and it was produced by their boss, Don Jazzy.

On 19 May 2014, Foston Musik premiered Patoranking’s “Girlie ‘O’ Remix” featuring Savage and produced by WizzyPro. On 27 May 2014, 323 Entertainment and Mavin Records released the music video for “Wanted”, a song from the Once Upon a Time album. This video prompted a huge public backlash across various social media platforms .

Endorsement Deals

Tiwa Savage has signed endorsement deals with several giant Nigerian companies including Pepsi, Forte Oil, MTN and Maggi. She is also involved in several humanitarian and youth empowerment works. Her endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria allegedly worth N30 million. Her average video is grossing over one million viewers on Youtube. Tiwa Savage currently has about five videos with more than a million views each.

Tiwa Savage Personal Life — Husband And Son

Savage and Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun, who is her long time boyfriend and manager legally got married on November 23, 2013 , the traditional marriage took place at the Ark in Lekki. And on 26th April 2014, the couple had their white wedding at the Armani Hotel in Dubai. A lot of high-class personally was in attendance and it was described as one of a kind and star-studded event. On the 22nd of July, 2015, the couple welcomed their bundle of joy and it’s a boy for them. They named him jamie but the heart breaking event happened around September last year, their marriage crashed resorting from domestic violence as she revealed that her husband subscribed to infidelity. It seems the problem has been resolved but there is no official confirmation on this though.

She also shared shocking details of how she recently had a miscarriage and shut down TeeBillz’s accusations of her cheating on him with Mavin stars, Don Jazzy and Dr.Sid and also 2Baba.
