England Beat India by 60 Runs in 4th Test Win Five-Match Series

England defeated India by 60 runs in the fourth Test to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

England sealed a series victory over India with a 60-run win on a gripping fourth day of the fourth Test in Southampton.

Captain Virat Kohli could have been given out lbw to off-spinner Moeen Ali on nine, but survived to share a painstaking stand of 101 with Ajinkya Rahane. With a total of 9 wickets in the match, Moeen Ali swung the match and the series in England’s favour as the hosts won the penultimate Test by 60 runs to go 3-1 up in the series with one Test match remaining.

Victory extends a run during which England have lost only one home series since 2012. They take a 3-1 lead to the fifth and final Test, which begins on Friday at The Oval.

Chasing a target of 245 in the fourth innings, India were looking solid with 123 for the loss of three wickets in the second session but Moeen Ali dismissed skipper Virat Kohli just before tea ending a crucial 101-run partnership between the Indian skipper and Ajinkya Rahane.

England bowlers cleaned up the remaining six batsmen for 61 runs. Along with Ali, all-rounder Ben Stokes and James Anderson chipped in with two wickets each crushing India in the run chase.

For India, Virat Kolhi was the highest run scorer in the second innings with 58 runs.
