Woman Throw Power Bank at Delhi IGI Airport, Arrested for Causing Minor Explosion

A 55-year-old woman was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly creating ruckus after being asked by security personnel at the airport to remove power Bank from her baggage.

Airport Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia told the Indian Express that the woman, named Malvika Tiwari, has been arrested under Indian Penal Code’s Section 285 for negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter and Section 336 for endangering life or personal safety of others.

He said that Malvika Tiwari, a Defence Colony resident, was later released on bail. It was revealed later after the investigation that she was waiting to board a flight to Dharamshala at Terminal 1 of the IGI Airport when the airlines called her back. “She was asked to remove her power bank but she got agitated and threw the device at the wall. It burst on impact, leading to panic,” a Senior Officer said.
