Mistakes Are Important | Nidhhi Agerwal

Nidhhi Agerwal maybe a newbie in Bollywood but the Bengaluru girl always cherished the dream of becoming an actor. From being a finalist in the Miss Diva contest a few years back to making her presence felt on screen, she has come a long way.

The model and dancer is making her debut with ‘Munna Michael’, which is directed by Sabbir Khan and stars Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In a chat with Anila Kurian, she turns candid about the release of the film and what she misses about Bengaluru.

‘Munna Michael’ is your debut movie.

Yes and I’m very excited. I can’t believe it’s going to hit the theatres in a couple of weeks. The trailers have been getting a great response so far and I can hardly contain my excitement!

What was it like working with Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui?

They were amazing and that’s what encouraged me to push myself harder. I’m glad I looked good in the frame with them (laughs). Tiger was helpful and he made me feel very comfortable. And I watched Nawazuddin work and picked up some tricks from him.

There is a lot of dancing in the movie.

Yes, and it’s definitely difficult to dance with Tiger as he is the best dancer in the industry. But it was also great because it helped me better myself and try harder.

There are other actors being launched as well. Do you think the competition is tough?

There are a lot of actors being launched all the time. So I’m considering myself lucky that I got a wonderful role like this. The director, Sabbir Khan, could have chosen anyone else but he wanted someone new and fresh. I’m truly honoured.

Have you signed any other films?

I haven’t actually but I have a couple more films with Eros International in the future.

Mistakes you want to avoid in the next project?

I think mistakes are important and I know that I will continue making mistakes. But it’s alright as long as I’m not repeating the same ones. In the next project, I want to better my technical knowledge of being an actor. I had zero knowledge while shooting for ‘Munna Michael’ so I had to learn on the way.

Have you picked up any new habits though?

(Laughs) I must have! I’ve started to take things more seriously and believe everything has a deeper purpose, be it dance classes or acting.

Are you enjoying the fame?

I love it! I think it’s great that someone wants to take a moment out of their lives to take a picture with you or simply talk to you. And it’s more awesome since my movie hasn’t even been released yet!

What do you miss about Bengaluru?

I come home quite regularly. I miss having ‘idli’, ‘dosa’ and ‘curd rice’. These are my favourites!
