‘Karwaan’– a Bollywood comedy-drama Film, directed by Akarsh Khurana is ready to regale the audience from August 3, 2018. The film is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Priti Rathi Gupta.
The main cast of the movie is Irrfan Khan, besides Dulquer Salmaan, a debutant in the Hindi film industry. Kriti Kharbanda and Mithila Palkar are the other casts.
Akarsh Khurana is ready to make his directorial debut with this movie. The story of ‘Karwaan’ revolves around three characters, going on a road trip.
Initially, Arvind Swamy and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were playing two of the three lead characters. Later, as a result of modifications made in the script, Arvind Swamy was dropped from the project. Rajkummar Rao replaced him in the movie. At that time the film was titled ‘Focus’.
Before going to the floor, the director Akarsh Khurana opted out of the project owing to some differences of opinion with Bejoy Nambiar, the writer and producer of the film. Heeraz Marfatia was brought in as a replacement for Akarsh Khurana but the shooting of the film failed to take off immediately.
In April 2017, Ronnie Screwvala decided to revive ‘Focus’ through his new production house venture– RSVP Films. Akarsh Khurana had been brought back to direct the film with a new cast of Irrfan Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. But in June 2017, Abhishek Bachchan parted ways with the film because of the conflicting shooting schedule with that of Paltan, the project of he was executing with J.P. Dutta.
In August 2017, Akarsh Khurana informed that Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar had been finalized to play the central characters in the film along with Irrfan Khan.
The first look of the film was unveiled on September 1, 2017. It then came up with a new name– Karwaan.
The actual shooting of the film begun from 31 August 2017 at Ooty and Koch.
The music for Karwaan comprises the songs which were composed by Prateek Kuhad and Anurag Saikia. SlowCheetah, Shwetang Shankar and Imaad Shah too assisted in it. Lyrics were penned by Prateek Kuhad, Akarsh Khurana, SlowCheetah and Imaad Shah.
