Tylz Responds TO BlaccEinstein; Give Trap And Mumble Rap A Chance!

Each and everyday, I wake up to some new forecast on the future of Hip Hop. Some are silly, crazy and uncalled for, others are plausible and realistic. The latter is the category BlaccEinstein’s articles on Trap fall under. Whichever way, sometimes I think we should stop forecasting. Although I believe healthy forecasts are healthy (ignore the taut).
Can you remember how many “this is the future of rap” articles you’ve seen? Many, I’m sure. There was the one for Ola dips, Chinko Ekun and now Trod. Blaqbonez, Erigga, A-Q and Boogey have not been left out. Have all of them become the Future of rap as forecasted by those “prophets”?.
Only a little fraction of such forecast will end up realities. So, judging the future from the present is just as good as playing Nairabet. Only the stake is different. Why trap artists can’t grow to become hip-hop G.O.A.T’s is something, that is, no doubt worth checking out. But, bro do you know that I can write a 2000-word article right now, about why Future will be the G.O.A.T in few years? It’s as simple as that.
Even though, half of hip hop twitter will agree that the new wave of Trappers can’t rise to be GOAT contenders, shouldn’t we look at the most ignored part of the story. Trap is the new wave which rides on moments, viral ones, rather than powerful discographies, punchlines and all that.
You know right now, an artiste can’t hold it down for a whole year. What if a Trap artiste then takes over everything and holds the moment longer than any other rap artist can ever? Can’t such artist be considered for GOAT?.
Hip hop is the hottest thing in the industry, and it always had that potential. However, boom bap, gangsta rap, and other sub-genres that can’t turn high school students on, don’t have the capacity to surpass Rock. Think a time when Drake seems more relevant than Rihanna? Or Kendrick Lamar than Taylor Swift? Or Jay Z than Beyonce? It didn’t just happened.
Spotify didn’t just unknowingly give hip-hop the “most heard” tag. Nah! Trap happened, and slowly took over. Take Trap out of hip-hop, and you find out, hip-hop, this generation has nothing else that can beat Rock. Only Trap could do the magic. So, wont you think thrice before saying Trap ain’t fully hip-hop?
Let’s talk about Trends. Hip hop has been about this for so long. From the days of Lil Wayne to Yeezy, down to Drake, and now Trap (mumble rap). If Trap holds it down for the next decade, don’t you think the progenitor will be revered as one of hip-hop’s greatest? Ain’t that GOAT?
While all these are hypothetical, one thing is sure. Only Time will tell. Maybe it’s just me and BlaccEinstein, A conflict of generations. But, what if Future rises to the status of Drake and Kendrick Lamar? Thinking he won’t get a 2Pac comparison, we’ll see. Trap is the new pop, and so bro, let’s give it more time to grow.
