As the 2023 general elections approach and a slew of presidential candidates declare their intentions to run, we take a look at some Nigerian celebrities who have proven over the years that their unwavering commitment to the cause of a better Nigeria has put them in a position to become president if they choose to run.
Through their large social media followings, these celebrities have continued to offer their collective voices to the country’s critical challenges.

Some of these celebrities joined young Nigerians in calling for the abolition of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a police unit notorious for a slew of crimes, including harassment and murder.

They are very outspoken in their rejection of dictatorship and human rights violations.

With all of their clout, these celebrities have offered their support for other young Nigerians fighting injustice, famine, and bad government across the country.

Despite his dehumanization, the comedian joined demonstrators at Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota region, which was the site of the Lagos State demonstration on June 12.

He has also developed into a powerful voice, raising opposition to the current government’s harsh treatment of the Nigerian people.

4. DJ Switch

DJ Switch, a popular female disc jockey and the heroine of the Lekki Tollgate shootings, has a good chance of winning the elections if she runs. After participating in the EndSARS demonstration and sharing live footage from the carnage that occurred at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020, the 36-year-old defied all odds.

Even in exile, female DJ Switch has continued to question the government while speaking out for those who perished in the Lekki Massacre.
