David Adeleke aka Davido, a Nigerian afrobeat singer, was the highest-earning Nigerian star on Instagram in 2021.

In Nigeria, however, his opponent, Ayodeji Balogun aka “Wizkid” Balogun, was ranked fifth.

Nigeria’s entertainment industry’s most well-represented market

Davido and Wizkid were the only Nigerian male superstars to make the top 10 list in Nigeria and Africa, according to HoppersHQ, an Instagram planning and scheduling service, while their eight female counterparts topped the domestic chart.

In Africa, there were five.

With five representatives, Nollywood actresses dominated the list, while four music industry superstars and one media figure also reached the top ten for Nigeria.

Davido came in second in Africa in terms of earnings per post, trailing only Egyptian soccer player Mohamed Salah, who has 42.4 million Instagram Followers and made $231,000 from one Instagram post last year.

The musician received $128,300 for an Instagram post to his 20.4 million followers.

As a result, the music legend became the highest-paid Nigerian on the social networking platform.

He was followed by Yemi Alade, whose Instagram post was evaluated at $88,100 by HopperHQ, and she has 14.01 million followers.

Funke Akindele, the sole Nollywood actress in the top five, finished in third with her Instagram profile, which has 13.3 million followers and is worth $83,600 each post.

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian singer with 12.49 million Instagram followers, was ranked fourth. In 2021, a post on the “Somebody’s Son” singer’s page cost $78,600.

Wizkid rounded out the top five with a $77,000 Instagram post.

Surprisingly, the Grammy Award winner has fewer Instagram followers (12.23 million) than the three women.

Mercy Johnson Okojie, another Nollywood celebrity, finished in sixth place after earning $65,300 each post on her Instagram profile, which has 10.38 million followers.

Mercy Aigbe came in seventh with $61,500 per post and 9.77 million followers, while Adesua Etomi-Wellington came in eighth with 4.23 million Instagram followers and $26,700 from a single post.

Bisola Aieyola, a former Big Brother Naija housemate turned Nollywood actress, came in ninth place with $19,200 per Instagram post. 3.04 million accounts follow Aieyola’s handle.

Toke Makinwa, a media personality, rounded out the top ten highest-paid Nigerian celebrities on Instagram, with 4.47 million followers. Last year, she was paid $18,300 per article.
