Don’t Breathe hit theatres in 2016 and was a fresh look into the home invasion horror. The movie starred Jane Levy as Roxanne, one of a group of young home invaders who strike the wrong house.  They think that the house is a soft target, because the man living in it, Norman Nordstorm, is blind. What they don’t know, is that he’s a war veteran and has an agenda of his own.

The Hollywood horror movie was a hit, raking in more than $200 million against a production budget of about $10 million.  Don’t Breathe won nominations at several award ceremonies and won the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actor (Stephen Lang) and the Best Horror Film at the Saturn Awards.

Writer/director Fred Alvarez announced Don’t Breathe 2 in November 2016. The script reached completion in 2018 and the title, Don’t Breathe Again hit the news headlines in January 2020. Rodo Sayagues and Fede Alvarez write the script. Sayagues will also direct.

Don’t Breathe had some controversial sequences. Some critics didn’t like the aspect of a visually impaired villain. Also, the turkey baster pregnancy sequence won some negative criticism as well.

In the sequel, we find that The Blind Man is alive and is living a quiet life until his past sins come to haunt him. We don’t know whether the original cast will return. I liked Don’t Breathe for several reasons. One of them was that the antagonist had a crutch that made him that much vulnerable and stronger at the same time. The way the twist unraveled was great as well.
