DEADMAU5 LIVE AT SHRINE EXPO HALL

Joel Zimmerman, commonly known as megastar producer Deadmau5, has been hard at work over the last 18 months configuring and mastering his new state-of-the-art stage production.

Dubbed “The Cube 2.1,” the three-story display has received rave reviews from fans and media alike. On his new #lotsofshowsinarow tour, Zimmerman played four sold-out nights in Los Angeles at the 6,000+ capacity Shrine Expo Hall.

He also spun at his after party Saturday night in a downtown warehouse with all the techno vibes. The Canadian proved once again that deadmau5 is an electronic maestro that caters to music fans on multiple levels and genres.

This new tour truly is peak Deadmau5, with a two-hour set that spans his catalog front to back. The LED screens are massive with animations beaming at a crisp 60 frames per second that makes one feel as if they’re in a virtual reality, sans headset.

It’s been cool to see all the hard work from the Toronto native and his team at Mau5trap come to fruition, while sharing the behind-the-scenes journey along the way on his social media.

The music reaches a crescendo by night’s end with the encore, “Sofi Needs a Ladder,” and the crowd sings along to every word. Zimmerman embraces his fans, even if it’s an awkward dance on stage, with a toast to the audience.

He also had a pop-up shop in L.A. over the weekend, signing autographs for diehards and offering unique merchandise for purchase.

In an era of instant gratification and the need to impress, Deadmau5 delivers without question.

The only thing left to wonder is… what’s next?
