Types of Markers

Hello again, for this post I wanted to talk about the different types of Markers you may come across when searching for one.

To start, markers have different types of ink bases which include: Alcohol based, and water or glycerin based. The different base means that the dye is suspended in either fast drying alcohol, or water or glycerin. Many markers indicate what type of base they have as shown below.

Markers will also have different types of tips on them depending on what you want. To start, many markers will be double sided with a thinner and thicker end as you can see here.

Finally, those two different ends can come in a variety of tip styles, from a calligraphy brush to a classic marker end. Here is a helpful guide for Copic markers that one could use.
