Usually there are 2 types of people in the world, one who shut down the computers every night and other will just close their laptops without turning them off. You may have heard lot of stories about which on is better for saying energy and keeping your hardware smooth. So will share you some logical tips for saying energy and as well as for keeping your hardware smooth.
Computers have 3 levels of power states:
– Sleeping (Stand By Mode)
– Shutdown
– Hibernate
In Sleep Mode image of your current task is saved, so when you are back online it will restore the saved image so that you can continue with your work where you left off. Same goes with hibernate, but it shuts more thing off for a deeper sleep and less power usage. Main difference between Sleep and Hibernate mode is the time taken to boot back up. Sleep mode will boot back up more quickly usually in seconds but it will take more time to boot back up when it is hibernated. Shutdown means fully turning off the power. So it is very much clear Sleep mode will consume more power than that of hibernate mode.
Even if you do keep your laptop in sleep mode most nights, it’s a good idea to fully shut down your computer at least once a week. The more you use your computer, the more applications will be running, from cached copies of attachments to ad blockers in the background. Even computer needs break at some point. They need to be reset so they’re not always running. If not reset than cached copies will build up over time, the more you use it, the slower it will get.
While shutting down computer usually uses more power as system is more stressed during shutdown and boot up. This problem was true in older models but this is not with the latest computer. If you’re worried about cutting down your energy costs, you’re better off unplugging chargers that aren’t in use or turning off a printer until you need it.
Weekly shutdown can avoid buggy technology. You’ve probably had computer issues that a simple reset fixed, and making that reboot can nip those problems in the bud.
