Top Searches Google was busy with in 2016

There are trillions of Search requests each year. From which few of the topics are in trend or on a top of the search board of many users. “Google’s Year in Search” offers a glimpse into the global psyche of the internet by telling us what the world has been asking about. The results are never truly surprising, but they’re quite often illuminating. Many of the phrases, unsurprisingly, reflect national events, news topics and other phenomena that rose to prominence throughout the year. The top trending search term is “Powerball” which is in reference to the $1.56 billion jackpot that three ticket holders won in early 2016. “Prince”“Hurricane Matthew”,“Pokémon Go” and “Slither.io” claimed the rest of the top five, while “Trump” and “Hillary Clinton” rounded. Few of them are listed below.

1. Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go was more searched than any other term in 2016, while the Olympic games squeaked into the top ten at eighth.Pokemon Go was a summer phenomenon, as players strolled across cities and landmarks in search of Pokemon. It set an Apple App Store record for the most downloads during its first week of availability. It’s been a rigorous, tumultuous year, but if everything has seemed a bit overwhelming, don’t worry! There’s always Pokemon.

2. Donald Trump
That year US election was the world’s most popular news story according to Google’s search trends.It seems Donald Trump just can’t win. His inflammatory comments about Mexicans have led a number of brands – including Macy’s, NBC and Univision – to cut ties with the business magnate lately. Every day brings news of more companies shunning Trump.

3. Olympics
The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was doomed from the start.More than 10,500 athletes participated in the games. These games also showed India’s biggest contingent, having as many as 120 athletes. There were 306 events spread across 28 sports.The Rio Games may be finished, but the golden feats of this athlete will live on in Olympic history forever. Two sporting Titans took their final Olympic bows, but for others, it was just the start of what could be a glittering journey.

4. Slither.io
The smash-hit game! Play with millions of players around the world and try to become the longest of the day! Slither.io is one of the most popular games on Poki and most selected .io Games. Slither.io, a game in which snake like creatures compete for food quickly joined the ranks of the most-downloaded apps.

5. Prince
Prince Rogers Nelson was a great American singer. He died on April 21, 2016, which made the search board flooded. His name was on the top of the content search in the year 2016.
