Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. Dragon Ball Z is the sequel to the Dragon Ball anime and adapts the latter 325 chapters of the original 519-chapter Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama that were published from 1988 to 1995 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. 157 Million DBZ copies were sold in Japan and more 230 million copies worldwide. (No one actually knows the exact figures this is just a number).

1. How many Villains was killed by GOKU..??
SON GOKU is a male Saiyan and the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball meta-series created by Akira Toriyama. Adopted grandson of Grandpa Gohan the son of Bardock and Gine, the younger brother of Raditz, the husband of Chi-Chi, the father of Gohan and Goten, the grandfather of Pan, and later the ancestor of Goku Jr. This young protagonist for which everyone waits to see his fight has only killed 2 enemies. Both events occur during the Majin Buu Arc.

2. Dragon Balls are just a messed MYTH.
DRAGON BALL is the namesake artifact of the Dragon Ball series. Dragon Balls come in sets of seven with each ball displaying the number of stars that signifies its respective number in the set. It was said by Colonel Silver that the Dragon Balls are unbreakable when he dropped a fake Dragon Ball. Dragon Balls are difficult to find because they are scattered all over their respective planet, or all across the universe or galaxy according to the Funimation dub in the case of the Black-Star Dragon Balls, and are deactivated for a year after every wish, disguising themselves as stones. In the original story, there are eight crystal balls, which were created when a Princess has sex with her father’s dog. After being “born” — again, from the unholy union of a woman and a dog — the crystal balls went into the sky and split off, and later became human children. The phrase “Dammit, Japan” has never been more applicable.

When asked why there are seven instead of eight Dragon Balls, creator Akira Toriyama explained that he didn’t want to have the same number as the famous story where a dog has sex with a human female who later gives birth to jewelry.

3. Dragon Ball Z movie was funded by Japanese Government
UNIJAPAN, a non-profit organization setup by Japanese Film industry under the supervision of Government of Japan, is funding Toei Animation $636,000 USD to help support DBZ film project. UNIJAPAN always promotes and supports the international endeavors of Japan filmmakers. Many such organization supports the exportation of Japanese pop culture, including Anime and Video games. There were many projects in the race for funding by UNIJAPAN but only 4 qualified to be funded by them and DBZ was the only Anime to get funds.

4. Goku’s Japanese voice actor was SHE.
Masako Nozawa is a Japanese voice actress and actress affiliated with Aoni Production. She is also affiliated with and the chairman of Office Nozawa. Her husband, Masaaki Tsukada, was also a voice actor. The voice actor playing Goku in all Dragon Ball series delivers her trademark KAMEHAMEHA! live at the 2009 Tokyo International Animation Fair. Throughout her career as a voice actress, she has performed many male roles, leading Japanese fans to give her the nickname “The Eternal Boy”. These days, however, she prefers the roles of elderly woman characters, although she continues to perform other roles (including young boys) occasionally.

5. GOKU’s voice was unbearable by English Voice Actor too.
SEAN CHRISTIAN SCHEMMEL is an American voice actor, singer, ADR director, and scriptwriter who works with anime series at Funimation, NYAV Post, and 4Kids Entertainment. His most famous voice role is the adult version of Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise. He has notably portrayed Goku longer than any other English voice actor has over the years. He also voices King Kai and Goku Black. Also, he has been the featured voice of several different Anime characters including Pokemon’s Jimmy, Morrison, Lucario, Archie, Cyrus, Kodai, Kolress, and Hugh.

6. The Super Saiyan character evolved from GOKU by adjusting hair color
SAIYAN are a race of extraterrestrials in the anime and manga Dragon Ball and its adaptive sequels, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super. In the series, the Saiyans from Universe 7 is a naturally aggressive warrior race who were supposedly striving to be the strongest warriors in the universe, while the Saiyans from universe 6 are protectors. Nearly all of the Saiyans from Universe 7 were obliterated by Frieza before the start of the Dragon Ball series.

The biggest difference is obviously Goku’s jet-black hair, which turns blonde in Super Saiyan form — but in the manga, blonde is represented by blank white space. As it turns out, the Super Saiyan hairstyle was designed that way because filling in all of Goku’s hair with solid black ink took a long time. Toriyama figured that if the made the transformation change his hair color, his assistant would have to spend far less time in the tedious process of making sure the entire hairdo was colored in.

Who knows what Super Saiyans might have looked like if DBZ had been created in an age of Photoshop and fill-in paint bucket tools?

7. Many Glitches
Animation tool used for DBZ during those days was not so powerful. After few episodes fan complaints about some animation glitches. There was a noticeable drop in animation quality. From the launch of DBZ series animation department was not consistent due to budget and time constraints. Different episodes were handed over to different teams resulting into animation quality degradation. So level of perfection to such a famous series was missing. It is not the one cartoons which lacks this type of quality degradation, American cartoons like Tiny Toon was also one of them.

8. Differences between the anime and the original Manga series by Akira Toriyama
Dragon Ball Z anime is entirely based on Dragon Ball Manga series by Akira Toriyama. Unlike many other series, DBZ followed Manga series very closely including identical renderings of certain characters and moments. In spite of depicting certain things from Akira’s Manga series, there is some difference in DBZ characters and story line.

Some of the difference are:
– Gohan returns to fight Frieza which only happens in DBZ series and not in Manga. Manga only sticks to Goku fighting with Frieza and not Gohan.
– Goku participated in some other world tournament which was not as a story line in Manga.
