The Dark Web is the World Wide Web content web page that forms small part of the deep web, the part which is not indexed by search engines. Due to the layered encryption system, the identities and location of the user are anonymous and cannot be tracked. Dark Web can only be accessed using special tool/software one such is TOR, it’s a browser which provides a very high level of encryption due to which website cannot track geo-location and IP of the users. Taking this advantage many criminal activities are also carried out on this deep world. Some strange contents are also available on Dark Web:
1. Dark-Net Market
Commercial market like Silk Road which is a medium for illegal drugs and other goods. Some other sell software exploits and weapons. Much illegal content traded by online traders like SILK ROAD include under heading Stimulants, Psychedelics, Prescription, Precursors, other, Opioids, Ecstasy, Dissociative, and Steroids/PEDs. The fake driving license was also offered on some portal. Approximately $300,000 worth transaction takes places on single SILK ROAD platform.
2. Hacking Groups and Services
Hackers sell their services individually or as a group. Cybercrimes and hacking for the financial institution and banks are some service offered on this Dark Web. Use of Internet-scale DNS Distributed Reflection Denial of Service (DRDoS) attacks has also been made through leveraging the Dark Web. xDedic, hack forum, TrojanForge, Mazafaka and The RealDeal are some Hacking Groups that sell their services on Dark Web.
3. Recruitment Drives
Cicada 3301 name given to the organization that posted PUZZLE and alternate reality games to possible recruit code breakers from the public. Recruitment drives are carried out by posting some tricky PUZZLE for the coders, this type of drive first started in January 2012, which ran approximately for a month. The stated intent was to recruit “intelligent individuals” by presenting a series of puzzles which were to be solved.
4. Illegal Pornography
Illegal content is one of the prime parts of Dark Web so comes the pornography. Sexualized torture and killing of animals and revenge porn are some content that is viral on Dark Web. Pornography exists outside the Dark Web but the cruel part of it is still banned. Children pornography which exploits children for sexual stimulation. It may be produced with the direct involvement or sexual assault of a child (also known as child sexual abuse or it may be simulated child pornography. Such activities are openly carried out on Dark Web.
5. Terrorism
Many terrorist organization group floated online that recruits the new member for many terrorist activities. There are at least some real and fraudulent websites claiming to be used by ISIL (ISIS), including a fake one seized in Operation Onymous. The Rawti Shax Islamist group was found to be operating on the dark web at one time. In the wake of the November 2015 Paris attacks, an actual such site was hacked by an Anonymous affiliated hacker group GhostSec and replaced with an advert for Prozac.
