The awards ceremony was on February 12, 1994. Now the interesting part is that he won the Best Film Critics Award on the same night for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. But here’s the twist. Although the awards were for movies released in 1993, and the ceremony was on February 12, 1994, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa came out two weeks later, on February 25, 1994. Shah Rukh Khan himself said that it was his favorite film in a social media post shared by a fan club.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa faced financial issues

Let us tell you that the movie faced big issues and was hard to release as nobody wanted to buy it. However, Shah Rukh Khan knew how to handle and he appeared like a prince to rescue. Cleverly he submitted Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa for the Filmfare Awards, and the jury saw the film that had not even been released, something that rarely happens in the movie world. And guess what? The movie won the award, and Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor. The director, Kundan Shah, explained in an interview how Shah Rukh Khan saved the movie. The filming of the movie was uncertain because of financial issues, but Shah Rukh Khan’s determination made every shot feel like a victory.

In an interview with Rediff, Kundan Shah shared a surprising fact. Reaving that Shah Rukh Khan bought the rights to his movie. Even though Shah Rukh Khan had moved on to other projects after the success of Darr and Baazigar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was ready before those films. However, Shah Rukh Khan decided to take care of the problems surrounding Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, showing his commitment to the project despite his busy schedule. He found a co-producer who said “Vijay Gilani and he (SRK) agreed to buy the film. So Vijay Gilani, Venus (Worldwide Entertainment), and Shah Rukh became joint producers and bought the Bombay territory. That’s how the film was released in Mumbai.
