According to Sandhya Devanathan, vice president of the firm for India, Meta, formerly known as Facebook Inc., wants to stop hate speech in India before the Lok Sabha elections, which are slated to take place in 2024.According to Devanathan, Meta has also invested in artificial intelligence (AI) to combat fake news during the Indian elections this week (September 20).

According to Devanathan, Meta has collaborated with 11 fact checkers to create the broadest network the firm has ever created in order to combat hate speech and false information.
Sandhya Devanathan averred, “So the goal really, is to balance giving users a voice, making them a part of the civic process, but at the same time, we want to combat hate speech, we want to combat user harm.”
