Two Category Five Hurricanes

A 4 Unit Apartment Building Damaged by the Hurricanes

Last week, Jeremy and I traveled to St. Thomas, USVI to offer assistance in the rebuilding of an area affected by two deadly category 5 hurricanes which struck many areas of the Caribbean late last year.

We own property on the East end of the island, which was fortunately not damaged by either hurricane, however, we were one of the lucky ones. Nearly six months later, there are still areas of the island without power and the island is full of FEMA employess, line workers and organizations from all over the world.

Our firm, Bonin Architects & Associates, is volunteering renderings for several areas in need of rebuilding. Areas include renderings for a new entry sign, a permanent covering to replace a damaged canvass lobby's entry, a covering for a restaurant for outside seating offering protection from wind, rain and sun, and Renderings for a 4 unit employee apartment building which was severely affected when the roof blew off during the hurricanes.
Me, measuring for as-built conditions

Giving back and volunteering both locally and afar is something that Jeremy and I will continue to do for as long as we own our firm, whenever possible. Our employees are all actively involved as well, and we hope we are making a small difference in helping the rebuilding process. Even during these difficult times, the people on the island are upbeat, friendly, welcoming and their stamina is amazing!
Hard working, fun employees helping move stuff out of our way while we were measuring. They were great!
