The Great Gatsby Academy Award winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin, has applied her theatrical style to the Metropolis designer collection – a new range of fabrics and wallpapers in collaboration with Mokum.
Martin’s second collection with Mokum, Metropolis captures not only the rich decorative nature of Art Deco but also its geometric modernism.
The Metropolis fabric and wallpaper collection includes two luxurious velvets: Velvet Splendour, a bold printed floral and Limelight Velvet, a tonal yet graphic jacquard. There is a return to embroidered linen, creating the exotic geometric Metropolis and two elegant trims: Charleston Pearls Ribbon and Metropolis Ribbon. This is complemented by the Charleston Pearls drapery, which was inspired by pearl strands, so very fashionable in the Deco period.
The collection is made complete with five sumptuous coordinating wallpapers utilizing diverse printing techniques and multiple substrates. These include metallic inks and foil alongside textured surface prints, printed onto both paper and non-woven substrates, capturing this luxurious and spirited era.
(All wallpaper and fabric samples are charged at $2.50 each, this includes postage within Australia. Upon ordering your wallpaper/fabric this fee will be refunded onto your invoice.)
