The event is kicked-off with the annual Preview Cocktail Party which gives guests the opportunity for early-shopping from an array of antiques, jewelry, textiles, collectibles, and timelessly chic furniture and accessories  Designer Liz Lange is the Honorary Chairperson this year. Lange is an American fashion designer, entrepreneur, author, and podcast host.  Ticket proceeds from the Preview Cocktail benefit the East Hampton Historical Society. 

Antiques Are Trending!

For years, I have reported on this extraordinary event, and  I am thrilled to announce antiques are trending again in the design world.  It’s refreshing to note that vintage rattan, bamboo, mid-century lighting, architectural elements, garden ornaments, and American and European country decorated furniture is well-loved by many.  Now more than ever, the careful curation of wares from many different eras and styles are a perfect way to showcase one’s personal style. 

“I see a strong interest in crossover collecting by people who are interested in great design – furniture, works of art and objects – that were created in a variety of places and across time. After a swing away from traditional, single period collecting and decorating to what seemed like a ubiquitous, somewhat bland minimalism, I think people now want to express their sense of individuality with an eclectic mix of interesting antiques, combining, for example, folk art with mid-century modern furniture, or English and Continental neoclassical furniture and ceramics with contemporary art, to name but a few possibilities. As a dealer and also in my own personal sphere, I always find it exciting to create a dialogue between objects, finding affinities that might transcend country of origin or time period. Advance tickets for the Antiques & Design Show on Saturday and Sunday cost $15. The show offers an on-site café.
