Easter-inspired tables and chocolate

With Easter upon us, we share some spring inspiration for creating a beautiful table and offering delicious chocolates for guests to take home. Last spring, we set a table for black-tie dinner at the Lenox Hill spring gala. With the venue offering soaring ceilings in a historic bank in Grand Central Station at Cipriani, these tables need to be over the top and dramatic. By the way, this year our table designs for theme, "All the World's A Stage" will take place in the evening of May 4, so stay tuned. We created root cellar designs table linens with our textiles from our spring collection, lovely cement bunny compotes planted with spring blooms, and offered guests delicious bites of our favorite French chocolates to take home.

On the topic of chocolate, I plan to fill my Easter baskets this year with my favorite chocolate bunnies. Where chocolate is concerned, I believe in quality over quantity. While on a visit to Paris years ago, I was sponsored by the Comite Colbert (the voice of French luxury) to write about this French consortium (an organization that supports French artisan-made products). The brands involved run the gambit from family-owned Hermes to lighting companies and french made chocolate. I visited the most beautiful chocolate atelier in Paris and after tasting the wares, I was smitten. I found (to my surprise) this chocolate shop has a home in my very own neighborhood on the upper east side of New York City, and to this day I shop on special occasions at their Madison Avenue shop (it is pricey chocolate, folks) and this week I plan to buy my Easter chocolate here.
La Maison du Chocolat combines their rich milk and dark chocolate with their iconic praline and it's a taste you will not soon forget, a rich chocolate with nutty bits. Over the Easter holiday they create their french-style designs which are a mix of contemporary shapes and classic tastes, and it is exquisite! I dot my Easter baskets with treats from Maison, with each family member gets a different favored treat each year (the covered fruit for my husband; the praline wafer for my son and the chocolate covered nuts for my daughter).
