Small Business Summit 2017

MultiTable Supports Local Small Business

Although it may seem like it’s easier than ever to start a Business these days, expert knowledge is still a key advantage for small businesses.

MultiTable recently sponsored the Phoenix Business Journal’s Small Business Summit, an event focused on providing Business Owners an opportunity to learn from local panelists and to network with fellow business owners from a variety industries. Entrepreneurs from all over the area had the chance to meet in person to network with their peers, learn what’s new in regulations, and hopefully take something away that would help grow their business. A lot went down, so here’s our recap and highlights from the event.

The power breakfast and panel discussion was held on May 23 at Galvanize’s Phoenix campus. The panel addressed current issues facing small business while offering insight on dealing with obstacles such as regulations, recent changes to the minimum wage, employee reclassifications and immigration.

Each panelist brought a unique perspective and a wealth of insight to the event. In between our chats with small business owners, we overheard lots of useful tidbits from several experts. Among them were: Labor & Employment Partner of Squire Patton Boggs, Laura Lawless Robertson, who gave an incredibly informative talk, explaining a host of pressing issues for small businesses, including new sick pay laws for employees and other health regulations. TechFinders’ Chief Executive Officer, Sharon Bondurant, was super inspiring and told her story of how TechFinders grew from a spare bedroom in her home to the booming business it is today.

The Takeaway: Run, Don’t Walk To The Small Business Association.

Throughout the summit, we kept hearing one consistent thing that all budding entrepreneurs face – lack of good, solid information. If you’re planning on opening a small business then speaking with the Small Business Association should be a priority, as doing so can save you time and money, and help you to avoid facing penalties for any missteps.

It was great to meet and greet so many local business owners. And it was particularly special for us to give away a ModDesk Pro to a very lucky winner – congratulations to Wells Fargo Vice President and Phoenix Branch Manager Laura Bardaweel!
