Has your boiler broken down during the cold snap?

Knoetze Master Builders have some handy advice to householders whose boilers may have broken down in the Freezing Weather.

John Knoetze, proprietor of Knoezte Master Builders, said: “A lot of homeowners will have upgraded to an energy efficient condensing boiler in recent years and may be surprised when their new boiler breaks down in the freezing weather. Often the reason this happens in cold weather is that the condensing pipe which connects the boiler with an outside drain has frozen over preventing the boiler from working. It is very simple to fix, and can save you the call out charge of a heating engineer. All you need to do is pour warm water over the plastic pipe until the contents have defrosted and then reset your boiler. Hopefully this will get you up and running again.”
