Top Drawer’s hottest interior trends for Spring/Summer 2021

Top Drawer is the UK’s leading trade show that showcases new and exciting products with amazing design. Normally, this exhibition takes place in the heart of London, but this year, it all took place online. But there was still five days of inspiring content including product launches, industry-leading seminar sessions, Interior design trends and masterclasses.

These hotly-anticipated seasonal trends are a great way to get inspired for the seasons ahead. I wanted to share their interior design trends for Spring/Summer 2021 with you to help get the creative juices flowing. Scroll down to view each highlighted trend below, so you can get the full lowdown without even leaving your sofa.

The Power Of Prints:

A departure from the minimal vignettes we’ve loved in recent years, pattern is back in force. A standalone statement piece or layered up, there’s no right or wrong way to master this look. This is a very exciting interior design trend as it can be adapted to fit many different interior styles and colour palettes.

It can be difficult to perfect this look as you can easily go over the top. My tip would be to use a couple of stand alone pieces. Or, for a more maximalist look, take a colour scheme from one piece of furniture or wallpaper and keep the colours consistent throughout the room.

Modern Mirage:

A new take on previous Palm Springs or Oasis trends, this rendition focuses on the textures, tones and natural patterns of the desert, both day and night. Think warm hues and natural forms as they are the focus of this trend. There are even subtle Aztec inspired prints mixed into this interior design trend too.

I really hope this interior design trend is here to stay as I love the colours and layered textures in this look.

An Opulent Addition:

Whether it’s a mix of many or a glinting accent, a touch of metallic never goes out of style. In its natural hard form or threaded through soft furnishings, use this style to add a dash of lavishness to any scene. In a world where everything feels very grey and dull, metallic tones help to bring warmth and luxury.

Cottage Cool:

2020 was full of surprises, like Le Cruset becoming one of the TikTok generation’s favourite brands. As we spend more time at home than ever before, the desire to surround ourselves with cosy comforts and calming, more traditional designs is only growing.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t granny decor, it’s an on-trend, contemporary take on traditional. Get ready to snuggle up in front of the fire with a cup of tea. With this interior design trend, you’ll be surrounded by comfort.

Which trend is your favourite? I think mine would have to be Modern Mirage as the colours and forms are really dreamy. Although, cottage cool feels very cosy and inviting. As always, feel free to join the discussion in the comments below
