Swoon Over The Swan House Apartments In Reykjavik

Earlier this month, Liam and I went to Reykjavik to celebrate our Birthdays. It has been on my holiday bucket list for years, so when we found cheap flights, we couldn’t resist.  When we were looking for a place to stay, I wanted somewhere with beautiful decor (obviously!). Liam suggested an apartment so we could cook together in the evenings. So, we decided to combine the two. The Swan House was the perfect solution!

The Swan House is a boutique apartment hotel in the centre of Reykjavik. Situated on a calm side street from Laugavegur, Reykjavik’s main street, the Swan House is a gorgeous and relaxing place to stay. The Scandi style aesthetics create a harmonic living space that is pleasing to the eye, and practical at the same time.

As soon as you enter the Swan House, you are welcomed by a vibrant, fun reception area. The burnt orange walls, brass pendants and a black and white checkerboard floor help to create an eclectic but welcoming space.

My expectations for our apartment were very high!

The first thing I saw when I walked in was the beautiful bed. The rusic palette headboard and the (IKEA) wall lamps are not normally seen in hotel rooms. But they give this apartment so much charm and personality. The fact that the striped throw almost merges into the bench helps to draw your eye across the whole space.

The bed can absolutely make or break how your stay is. If the bed is uncomfortable to sleep in, it could potentially spoil your holiday. I can honestly say, this is one of the best beds I have slept in! My head sank into the pillow as soon as I laid down.

The green velvet sofa was to die for. Not only does it look beautiful, but it was also really comfortable too. I love how they have played with different colours in the living area too. Green and pale pink are known to work really well together, but the bursts of blue are really fun.

This apartment had so many cute accessories that made us feel at home. I thought the teacups and crockery were beautiful – they wouldn’t look out of place in Anthropologie.

One thing I really loved about the apartment was the rough concrete ceiling. I have always been a fan of using concrete in interiors, however, it can make a room look very cold. The use of velvets, delicate patterns and rich wooden flooring help to warm up space. I loved the contrast between the industrial concrete and the rustic woven ceiling pendant.

The rug was a great choice! The delicate pattern contrasts so well with the bold stripe of the bench.

Meraki toiletries helped to add some Danish elegance to the Bathroom. (I wish it was easier to buy Meraki in the UK!) The grey tiles and industrial vanity unit compliment each other perfectly. Plus, there is underfloor heating, so you don’t need to worry about standing on freezing cold tiles!

If this apartment doesn’t impress you, there are plenty more options for you to choose from.
