Forget New Year New You, Give Your Home Your Full Attention

It can be so overwhelming in January. Everyone is going on about losing the holiday weight, not drinking for a month while they detox all of the lovely beverages and cheese they ate for weeks on end blaming the festivities and Christmas. But while a little self-improvement and love is not a bad thing at all, I also feel that this time of year is the perfect opportunity to get your home in order and organised. Which is why I thought I would share with you some of the ways you can shift your motivation to your home and start off the year in style.

Take on the minimalism trend

Minimalism was a hot trend for 2017, and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. But while you may not want to fully embrace the need to rid yourself of all the clutter and things you no longer want, love or need, it can be great Inspiration to clear out a few things that just don’t need to be around anymore. Some people can go to the extreme and believe in the values, but even just using this time of year of motivation to get rid of old magazines, clutter from Christmas and even just a few things that you no longer need could make all the difference to how your home feels. Also, selling some of the unwanted things on websites like eBay could generate an income boost for what can be a hard month for the old budget.

Invest in some new key pieces for your home

Every now and again we can become a little complacent or even bored with the furniture items or accessories we have in our home. Our tastes can change, or we simply need to reinvest and replace older items. January is a great time to purchase some wonderful new additions to your home and give your place the luxury home decor feel it deserves. You may want a new coffee table for your living spaces, dining furniture for entertaining or even a new chair to sit on and relax in after a hard day at work.

Take inspiration from all sorts of sources

Inspiration is all around us, and while many of us go to some of the obvious sources like home interior magazines or online websites for stores, there are some great alternative directions to look to get some much-needed inspiration for your home. The social media platform Instagram is a great place to find home interior accounts. Many people share their renovations or rooms transformations on those little squares, and they can be a great source of inspiration for your own home decor projects. On the subject of online platforms, another great website to consider would be Pinterest which is filled with tutorials and images to ignite passion even the least creative amongst us.

Paint and redecorate to freshen things up

Finally, even just giving a room a new lick of paint can be enough to Freshen Things up in the home and it can be a real budget-friendly way of doing things. Whether you stick with the same colour palettes or try something new, the freshness and cleanliness a new paint job can do can make all the difference.

I hope this has inspired you to put some focus on your home this new year.
