How To Create Stunning Visuals With Roomstyler

Want to create awesome photorealistic visuals? Roomstyler is here to help! Roomstyler is an online tool that allows you to create beautiful floorplans and 3D renders with minimal effort.

You may have noticed a Roomstyler visual that I created on my botanical blog post. If not I’ve attached it below:

As you can see, it looks so realsitic! Believe it or not, this only took me an hour!

Here’s how easy it is to do:

  1. The Walls

Roomstyler comes with some ready made room shapes which you can select. It also allows you to change the length of the walls to represent your room.

Or, you can draw your own walls if you’ve got the room dimensions ready. Each wall can be moved once they’ve been drawn. The next step is to change the wall height. The default is 3.1metres. Simply type your wall height into the box.

  2. Doors and Windows

Next, add doors and windows to your walls. Click on the windows tab at the top left of the screen and drag the window you’d like onto one of the walls. There are 6 window types to choose from: Once the window is in the wall, you can click on the window to edit the height, width, colour and position of your window. Repeat these steps for doors.

  3. Flooring and wallcoverings

Then the flooring, paint and wallpaper can be added. Click on the paintbrush icon and select the type of material you want to use. I’ve decided to add different wooden flooring. All you have to do is drag the image onto the floor and walls. Repeat for the wallpaper and paints.

  4. The Furniture

Next comes the fun bit! Adding the furniture! First, you need to select the sofa icon on the tab. This will take you to the furniture catalogue. Next, select one of the room categories. Then you’ll see a list of subcategories within that room: You can also search for specific items using the search bar at the top left. Once you’ve put all your furniture in, you’ll have an accurate floorplan.

  5. Scenery

Now, you can add the scenery outside the windows. You will need to have a scenery image ready. You can use pinterest or another search engine to find a picture of a garden, forrest or whatever you chose. You’ll need to click on the clipboard icon and click on the photos tab. Simply click upload image and the image will be in your tab. Next, drag the image over to the ‘apply scenery’ button. The scene will not be visible in the thumbnail preview, but don’t panic! It will be there when you get your high quality render.

  6. The Render

Your design is now complete! You can see a low quality preview of your image by maximising the thumbnail in the top right. The next step is to save your design to your profile. Click on the ‘Take a 3D photo’ button under the thumbnail preview. The following box will pop up. Simply name your design, select the room and style and click ‘Save’.

  7. Saving your visual

Voila! You are now able to save your image. Roomstyler automatically create high quality renders for you, however, you can buy credits which can be used for higher quality and photorealistic renders. To save your design to your computer, go to your profile page, hover over your design and click ‘View’.

The above image was saved as a HD render. HD renders cost 1 credit, 4K renders cost 2 credits and photorealistic renders cost 3 credits.

Often there is a link to some inspirational pictures. This link often takes you to a Pinterest board or a useful blog post like the one below:

Once you’ve created your design, simply click submit your design and select the design that you want to enter. It’s as simple as that.

Once the contest closes, people will be able to vote for their favourites. If you’re lucky you might win some credits.
