I hope you aren’t tired of hearing about the Traditional Home Southern Style Now Showhouse at this point! I know I have mentioned it a few times over the last couple of weeks, but it is difficult to contain the excitement of participating in my first showhouse. The whole experience has been incredible. It has been so rewarding to see months and months of work come to fruition in such a public forum. I have loved meeting both my fellow designers and all of the visitors to the showhouse, both at the gala and on opening day. It was so fun to see people come in and marvel at my room and all of the individual elements that make it beautiful.

The Southern Style Showhouse is located at 7618 St.Charles Avenue in New Orleans. It will be open now through June 12th. I have been to my share of showhouses and can attest to the fact that this is one you will not want to miss! It is so interesting to see what Southern Style means to the participating designers and how we all interpreted it. The other thing that sticks out to me about this house is that each designer’s point of view is evident in their individual spaces, but somehow, the house as a whole feels much more cohesive than a lot of showhouses. There seems to be a common thread from one room to the next and it truly feels like a home. I urge you to visit before the showhouse closes! Trips to New Orleans are relatively inexpensive and there is so much fun to be had in this beautiful, historic city! In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a little tour to entice you. I don’t have photos of all of the rooms since they were all finished at different times and the gala was jam-packed with nearly 400 people, but these glimpses should be enough to make you want to visit and see it all for yourself!

{Los Angeles-Based Reagan Hayes took a decidedly more modern slant in the parlor.}

{Artist and Interior Designer, William McLure created a multi-purpose space in the dining room/library. The cheery, yellow walls are punctuated with McLure’s sought-after artwork.}

{The powder bathroom off of the stairs was Designed by Denise McGaha. The over-scaled, floral wallpaper by Ashley Woodson Bailey proves that big things come in small packages.}

{James Farmer designed a classic, timeless kitchen with a Southern accent.}

{Lindsey Coral Harper designed a jewel box of butler’s pantry featuring Adelphi wallpaper and a mini chandelier from Circa Lighting.}

{The Family Room by Lance Jackson and David Ecton of Parker Kennedy Living incorporates a palette of blue, white, and pops of yellow in their signature “Southern Regency” style.}

{One of my favorite spaces in the house was the guest cottage bathroom designed by Betsey Nixon Hazard from Shaun Smith’s office. It features a beautiful wallpaper from Stark, a feminine antique mirror, and sconces by Julie Neill.}

{Clary Bosbyshell from Atlanta designed the pretty laundry room featuring a pretty, floral wallpaper and striking abstract painting by NG Collective.}

{The Master Bedroom designed by Ware Porter is thoroughly traditional with its mix of antiques, elaborate draperies and canopy bed, and monogrammed linens from Leontine.}

{Last, but not least, my guest bedroom and terrace which I affectionately nicknamed the Dauphine Suite. The room really came together around the beautiful deGournay wallpaper accented in hand-gilded 12 carat white gold and aluminum, along with the iron Tara Shaw bed. I wanted the room to respect the sense of time and place– an 1890s house on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans–but sought to execute that idea through a modern lens. The result is glamorous, timeless, and feminine.}

{I took the same neo-traditional approach on the balcony, using the blue and white pottery in the bedroom as the jumping off point for the terrace which features outdoor furniture by Woodard, upholstered in Sunbrella fabric and pillows and accessories by Williams Sonoma Home.}

This just scratches the surface of all of the fabulousness in this showhouse. Congratulations to all of the participating designers! I have loved sharing this experience with and getting to know all of you better.
