Hello LDV readers. It’s Karima from A Note on Style with a post on Jeans, a clothing item I think everyone can relate to. They’re the anchor of my wardrobe. Frankly, when I’m considering a new item to purchase, the first question I ask myself is how I’d wear it with jeans. And even though I love classic styling that has stood the test of time, I still like to consider options that feel fresh and introduce a modern note to my look.

I did a post on A Note on Style a couple of weeks ago called “Jeans These Days” that highlighted some of the ways to style Denim that feels the most current. With a variety of silhouettes in play, it’s ultimately the finishing details and wash that give a pair of jeans relevancy today. A gently worn finish that reads as authentic is where it’s at. A clean hem, void of excessive frayed edges or rips, welcomes jeans back to a classic state that’s been missing the last few seasons. With just these two details in check, styling a pair of jeans is a cinch.

I’m using the checklist below as a styling guide for the season highlighting the items I may want to purchase to successfully create a contemporary, yet classic look:

• Pair with a sharply tailored blazer
• Denim on denim is a good move
• Keep it tonal wearing shades of white
• Add an upscale luxe bag
• Add polish with classic gold jewelry
• Elevate with a beautiful belt
• White shoes with dark denim is a good thing
• Wear jeans that are relaxed
• Unless the jeans are cropped, they need to skim the floor
• Pair with either loafers or sandals, in any heel height
