A Note on Style: Beginning the Winter to Spring Transition

Hello LDV readers. It’s Karima from A Note on Style. This month’s installment is simple as I begin the winter to Spring Transition of my wardrobe. I’m just taking the classic color palette I return to day in and day out and giving it a tweak. Instead of relying on black to anchor outfits, I’m turning to tan and ivory. The effortless formula introduces a subtle Spring note to a number of looks existing in my closet.

Since temperatures don’t warrant a full seasonal shift yet, adapting this plan works beautifully with pieces that will continue to keep me warm and cozy. A sweater or coat in this color story is the easiest route, but my favorite is to add a pair of boots in a neutral shade. In ivory, tan, camel or beige, they are the gamechanger item to give even the most low-key look an instant lift.

And while I’m at it, I’ll incorporate this story around the house. I’ll pare back vignettes and keep decor simple by focusing on a single item, just as Amy Meier does so brilliantly with olive branches in a clear vase (above). Or, I’ll remerchandise what I already have by grouping books, art, and tabletop decor in a singular hue.

Sophisticated and fresh!
