Cheap Electric Scooter: The Razor E300 Review

The Razor E300 is a Cheap Electric Scooter selling right now on Amazon for around $200. It’s potentially a great budget option if you are still not entirely sold on the idea of having to invest a large sum of money in an eScooter or just don’t have the funds to do so.

Unlike most of the other scooters featured on this site, the Razor is targeted at both children and adults. This may adults off purchasing this product for themselves but it shouldn’t necessarily do so. In fact, the Razor posses many of the positive qualities held by some of the more expensive scooters. This is amazing at such at low price.

With this being said, there are distinct elements of the Razor E300’s design and specifications which do cause reason for concern and will potentially put many people off purchasing this scooter. These flaws stand out like a a sore thumb and it’s hard to overlook the fact that the Razor E300 is a cheap Electric Scooter for a reason.

We will discuss the pros and cons of the Razor E300 later in this review. But first let’s take a look at the specifications of the Razor E300 and see exactly how it compares to the pricier options.

Specification Breakdown

  • A top speed of 15 miles an hour. Impressively keeping up with almost all of its more expensive competitors.
  • The scooter weighs in at 53 lbs. On the heavier side but it also has a bigger frame than many of the lighter scooter types. Some consumers will potentially see this as an advantage.
  • A 12-hour charge time which is the first huge disadvantage of this scooter. This is almost 4 times the charge length of the Glion Dolly.
  • Only 40 minutes of usage time per charge which a second big disadvantage. Again, this is far less usage time per charge compared with the more expensive options.
  • Features include a hand operated front break, a retractable stand and extra wide tires for a smoother ride.

Pros and Cons of the Razor E300 Cheap Electric Scooter

PROS

  • It’s a very cheap electric scooter. This one is obvious but vital. If money is your main concern, then look no further.
  • A range of both color and design options available including a seated design which could be a perfect choice for someone less physically able like an older person who wishes to easily move around locally.
  • The motor on this scooter is quiet and therefore you hopefully won’t attract too much unwanted attention in public.
  • A study frame which is perfect for a range of sizes both adult and child. The frame also makes the Razor E300 more durable which plays a positive role on the lifespan of this product.

CONS

  • The Razor e300’s obvious con is the 12-hour charge time. As mentioned above, this far exceeds the average charge time found in most competitors. For most people this will prove to be an impracticality. How the charge time affects you will most likely be based on your use requirements and the type of lifestyle you lead. The extensive charging period leads us to form the opinion that the Razor e300 should only be used as a casual scooter.
  • The second big disadvantage, the 40-minute run time is low and combined with the charging time may make this product frustrating to use on a regular basis. Again, we would urge you to consider your use requirements and then make a decision. Also, the battery in this scooter has also been found to drain slowly even when the scooter is not in use (if the power is left on).
  • Cheaper design can sometimes cause unreliability in performance including overheating and occasional motor faults which is potential a cause of annoyance when using the Razor E300.
  • There is a lack of portability due to a large frame and weightiness. The scooter also doesn’t come with any worthwhile portability features unlike many of the more expensive options.

Is the price too good to be true?

Unfortunately, we think that the Razor E300, while a good budget option for a select few, is not the right purchase decision for most people.

The long charge time, short travel distance and all around design faults make this product more hassle than it’s worth for the great majority of those looking to invest in an electric scooter. If you are serious about using an electric scooter on a daily basis (such as a work commute) then our recommendation is to look elsewhere.

The Razor e300 may be suitable as a cheap electric scooter option. However, this is only the case if you want this scooter as a more of a novelty item.  If you plan on using an electric scooter for serious practical purposes. You should look elsewhere.
