India's Ministry of Civil Aviation(MoCA) unconfined the new drone policy, which actualizes the draft policy that came into existence this summer.
The government has concluded to cancel the UAS Rules of 2021and substitute them with the Drone Rules of 2021.
Drones are generally called 'Unmanned Aircraft Systems(UAS)' and are beneficial in various fields such as agriculture, enforcement of the law, transportation, defense, examination, and during a significant crisis. Now, we will see who can fly drones and whether you entail a license or not.
Who is allowed to fly drones?
There are two kinds of licenses given: Remote Pilot Licence and Student Remote Pilot Licence. The maximum age to obtain a license is 65 years, and the minimum age to obtain remote pilot licenses and student is 18 years.
Remote Pilot License: A remote pilot license is applicable for 10 years and can be extended for the next 10 years by filling the application.
Student Remote Pilot License: A student license is appropriate for 5 years and can be extended for an additional period of 2 years. It would help if you were 10th pass or its corresponding exam from a known Board.
Must I have the authorization to fly drones in India?
As stated by India's new drone rules, you do not need security permission to activate and fly nano drones and mini drones in the air.
Nano drones(which weigh less than 250 grams) are not liable for getting any license. Additionally, no remote pilot license is needed for micro drones(non-commercial utilization). Moreover, you require to make sure that you should not fly it further than 15 m(50 ft) AGL.
In the meantime, all different drone operations in India need a license like UAOP and UIN.
As per the government statement given in a press release, there is no need for a unique identification number, remote pilot license by R&D units controlling drones in rented locations in a green zone, and a type certificate.
Where can I take off my drone?
The Civil Aviation Ministry declared that an intriguing airspace map would be shown on its website, which will display the 3 kinds of zones- yellow(restricted airspace), green(no consent needed), and red(flying not allowed).
These zones are mentioned to inform drone operators where they are allowed and not allowed to fly their unmanned aircraft systems.
In India, do I require an authorization number to fly a drone?
There is no requirement as such. The Indian government has removed many approvals comprising a unique prototype identification number, certificate of conformance, unique authorization number, certificate of manufacturing and airworthiness, license of presented drones, maintenance certificate, and remote pilot instructor authorization.
Online registration is necessary for all drones and can be carried out on the digital sky platform. Also, it is anticipated that the procedure for the de-registration of drones will be simple.
In India, the charge for a remote pilot license for drones is majorly reduced to insignificant levels. The payment outline has been delinked from the dimension of the drone.
As per the new strategy, you are required to pay Rs 100 for all groups of drones. The remote pilot license for drones is now applicable for 10 years.
Thus, I hope it is clear from the above who are eligible to fly drones and about license requirements as per the new drone policy.
