Anna Maureen Barth Shaffer was (born on March 15, 1992), in Camden, London. A South African family raised her, her dad being Jewish while her mom is mixed race. Shaffer grew up with her brother Joshua.

Apart from this, she hasn’t disclosed details about her family. She and her brother enrolled at the Highgate Wood School. After that, Shaffer studied at Camden School for Girls, where she completed her A Levels.

Career

At the end of 2007, Shaffer got an opportunity to play the role of Romilda Vane in the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. She portrayed her character as the 4th year student who tried to utilize a love potion on Harry.

Her performance in Harry Potter was well-praised. It led her to reprise her character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Although the British actress Shaffer had already earned fame from Harry Potter films, the turning point of her career came in December 2010. The famous newspaper publisher Liverpool Echo announced that Shaffer would be cast as Ruby in Hollyoaks. 

Shaffer went on to audition for the role of Leanne Holiday. Still, directors decided to cast her as Ruby, the sister of Duncan Button. After getting the role, she quickly flew to Liverpool and began starring in Hollyoaks.

The first episode of the show was released in January 2011. Later that year, it was revealed that Shaffer was about to leave the Hollyoaks. Instead, she continued appearing on the series until February 2014. She then returned for her role in late 2017 and early 2018 for her role in Hollyoaks.

Outside of her big roles, Anna Shaffer guest starred in several TV shows, including the 2014 series Glue and the British Sci-Fi Class, as well as the sixth part crime series Fearless.
