Atiku to file fresh evidence against Tinubu at Supreme Court

In an attempt to substantiate his claim, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, has requested permission from the Supreme Court to present new evidence.

Atiku’s legal team, led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, filed the motion stating that the evidence would support Atiku’s allegation that President Bola Tinubu submitted forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prior to the February 25 polls.

Atiku argued that Tinubu’s actions amounted to both forgery and perjury, and therefore called for his removal from office by the Supreme Court.

Atiku specifically sought permission to present Tinubu’s academic records, which he claimed to have obtained from the Chicago State University (CSU) on October 2, 2023.

The motion stated that the CSU released the 32-page documents under the instructions of Judge Nancy Maldonado from the District Court of Illinois, Eastern Division, Illinois, United States of America.

Atiku’s motion to submit new evidence against Tinubu was based on Order 2, Rule 12(1) of the Supreme Court Rules 1985, Section 137(1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the inherent jurisdiction of the apex court as defined in section 6(6)(a) of the 1999 Constitution.

Although the application was dated October 5, Atiku’s legal team completed the filing process on Friday night.
