Went to Plaza Singapura to renew my mobile contract, and walked right into monstrous dinosaurs!
Not an actual invasion by Jurassic fiends, of course. It was a joint exhibition by Plaza Singapura and Singapore Science Centre titled Rawr! Dinosaurs Unearthed. Spread across almost the entire ground floor atrium, the exhibition featured several full-size automated beasties, children rides, and related workshops, and is obviously timed to coincide with the June school holidays. What I found most impression about the exhibition were the massive automations, all of which looked incredibly lifelike. From the look of it, all feel to be built to scale too.
Personally, I’m not into dinosaurs. They just feel, I don’t know, crude? That said, I don’t actually dislike them, and I did enjoy the Jurassic Park franchise. For parents, I think Rawr would be a great way to thrill and educate the kiddies. The ones I saw today were all so utterly delighted by the bellowing creatures. (The courage!) My guess is that none of them would be complaining later, when made to sit through dinner or grocery shopping.
If you’re interested, Rawr! Dinosaurs Unearthed is ongoing at Plaza Singapura till Jun 11. There are various workshops and weekend shows. Details about the shows and related promotions can be found at Plaza Singapura’s site.
