I wrote a piece a couple of months back swearing never to monetize my blog. Well, having just received a whooping 200 Euro Bill from my ISP (we have a contract where we add new sites with no extra payment) I now see the wisdom of monetizing a blog… I know, I’m a shallow creature but hey, bills need to be paid.
So from now on you will see ads popping up on my website and my blog so feel free to click on them or ignore them. I must admit, I tend to ignore such adverts, but then, just occasionally, something pops up and I look and think, “Ohh, that looks interesting.”
“Gotcha!” Cries the great Google God of advertising. C’est la vie.
If, like me, you suddenly see the light and need to take advertising to pay your way in the world, then I recommend Google’s AdSense. Quick, simple and clean and you can connect to your analytics data. Of course, one criteria Google want from you is a good volume of traffic, so ensure you have a large flow of traffic to start with and then ensure you keep that flow going, otherwise you are out on your ear. Google doesn’t tend to muck about.
