Samsung Galaxy S8 shows up in more leaked images, pre-orders expected to start April 10

Now we know that Samsung is going to unveil its next-generation flagship device ‘Galaxy S8’ on March 29 at an exclusive event in New York. But, thanks to the growing number of leaks and rumors, we might already know what the phone looks like. Today’s leaked photo comes from a phone case maker, who has captured the device at a rather close range. It helps us better understand the design aesthetic and major changes to the hardware features of the phone.

A first look at the front, as well as the back, of these leaked Galaxy S8 photos corroborate most of the features we’ve already witnessed in previous leaks. At the front of the smartphone, one can easily fall for the amazing curved bezel-free Infinity Display — which is most likely the name given to this screen. It gives you a perfect look at the narrow top and bottom bezels of the device, which packs a cohort of sensors (including the iris scanner) up top and no trademark home button at the bottom. Samsung is now also debuting software-based navigation buttons with this device — its first.

As for the back, there had been a constant debate about the placement of the fingerprint sensor. But, the image on the right seems to completely eliminate any doubts about its placement. The back of the Galaxy S8, as seen above, will include the fingerprint sensor on the right of the camera on the back. This is a departure from the usual home button integration of the sensor and now seems to be at a slightly awkward position considering the size of the phone. The back also hosts a 12 MP ultra-pixel camera along with dual-tone LED flash and laser focus.

Further, for those unaware of other leaked features, the Galaxy S8 will become available in two phablet-sized variants with huge 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays. Samsung is also expected to follow the trend with the inclusion of an AI voice assistant called Bixby that will be accessible through a fourth hardware button on the left. This assistant will most likely be available across all native apps and based on S Voice or Viv — not entirely sure. The phones will include batteries smaller than those expected, in response to the Note 7 explosions that haunted Samsung last year.

In addition, while we already know that the phone will be unveiled on March 29 and sales will officially commence on April 21. But, a fresh report from The Investor suggests that Samsung will open pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 on April 10. This will give potential buyers about 10 days to order their flashy new smartphones, which might outperform sales for the beautifully crafted LG G6.
