Card Sketch #201 – Sunshine Wishes Thinlits
Hello from the Black Hills in South Dakota! My family and I arrived yesterday in the Black Hills after a short layover visiting my parents in Minnesota. The road trip from North Carolina to Minnesota went extremely well and our son did an awesome job for a 6 1/2 year old (I’m really thankful for the iPad!). We really enjoyed one relaxing day with Grandma and Grandpa which included some fun at an awesome playground located at the Hyland Park Preserve near Bush Lake in Bloomington, MN.
Then, yesterday, we hit the road from Bloomington MN to Sioux Falls, SD with a stop in Mitchell, SD to see the Corn Palace then a detour through the Badlands and a quick stop at Wall Drug in Wall, SD before finding our way to our hotel in Sioux Falls, SD. It was an exhausting but fun day. Again, our son totally rocked the road trip. Here are some fun photos from along the way…
The Staples Family South Dakota Adventures:
Sunshine Wishes
As you can see, we are having a good time and can’t wait to make more memories as we visit Mount Rushmore, drive the Needles Highway, visit Bear Country USA and so much more. I’m already planning my Project Life albums (along with journaling our trip so I don’t forget some of these special moments). So, as I’m exploring the Black Hills then enjoying a week at the lake in Northern Minnesota, you’ll notice that the Paper Craft Crew is doing a TWO week challenge so you’ll have LOTS of time to create something to share and post to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge blog.
Now, this weeks card features the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and Timeless Texture Stamp Set. I’m really hopeful that we’ll have lots of sunshine on our South Dakota trip (although we’ve had some prairie rainstorms on the road trip to the Black Hills). The forecast is calling for rain shower but we are hopeful that they will move through the area quickly and this helped me find the theme for this card. I almost always bring along limited supplies when I travel and this card showcases the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits that I brought along to play with, and… yes, I do bring my Big Shot with me on the road! The colors are fun and bright featuring Watermelon Wonder, Copper and Crumb Cake.
Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Card Recipe:
- Stamp along the bottom edges and corners of Whisper White Card Stock with Watermelon Wonder using the Timeless Textures Stamp Set. I did stamp off some ink.
- Stamp the small “dots” from the Timeless Textures Stamp Set with Crumb Cake over the Watermelon Wonder Images.
- Attach the Whisper White to a layer of Crumb Cake card stock then attach to the background card front layer using the Affectionally Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper.
- Add a strip of the Copper Washi Tape from the Affectionally Yours Designer Washi Tape.
- Cut two of the “butterfly / flower” using Watermelon Wonder card stock with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. Overlap and create a flower then add a Rhinestone Jewel to the center.
- Attach the Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine just along the edge of the Washi Tape then attach the flower.
- Cut out the “Hope” from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits then twist the Copper Metallic Thread behind and attach to card front.
- The card base is Thick Whisper White card stock!
I LOVE being a part of Stampin’ Up! and owning my own business. It is hard work and I DO work some while I’m on vacation but I control my time. However, being a Stampin’ Up! Independent Demonstrator allows me the freedom to go on vacation or to take my son for a month long visit to see Grandma and Grandpa during the summer. I want my son to spend as much time as possible with my parents since then are getting older. The freedom to travel also allows me to visit other demonstrators or to even host parties in other parts of the country as I’m enjoying my time away from home. When I worked full-time in corporate America, I did NOT have this freedom nor was I really doing what I’m passionately in love with – Paper Crafting! Do you LOVE your job? If so, then great! But, if you don’t, then maybe becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is the right move for you and NOW is a great time to join my team. The Sunny Craftin’ Crew wants YOU!
