China and the US, the world’s biggest polluters, strike a climate deal

The United States and China have agreed to accelerate the deployment of clean energy and increase global production of renewables to combat Climate change. The two countries, which are the world's largest polluters, have committed to significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions within the decade in order to limit global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. They plan to increase their use of solar, wind, and battery storage by 2030 and triple renewable energy capacity worldwide in the same timeframe. The agreement, called the Sunnylands Statement, aims to shape the outcome of the upcoming United Nations climate talks and stabilize the relationship between the two nations.
