A Neutered Jack Russell named Rosie went into heat and suffered hair loss after being exposed to her owner's hormone replacement therapy (HRT) gel. Rosie's owner, Sue Burgess, noticed her dog attracting male dogs and exhibiting symptoms of being in heat, even though she had been spayed. After taking Rosie to North Downs Specialist Referrals (NDSR), it was discovered that she had been exposed to hormonal cream containing estrogen. NDSR has seen an increase in similar cases and warns menopausal women who own pets about the potential dangers of secondary exposure to HRT products, which can have fatal effects on dogs.
