Painting of Jesus’ Birth Valued at $15K Turns Out to Be Monumental Rembrandt Worth $18 Million

A Painting believed to be from an apprentice or artist in the "Rembrandt circle" has been identified as an early work by Rembrandt himself. The painting, titled "Adoration of the Magi," was bought in 1985 for $860,000 and is now valued at around $18 million. The discovery provides insight into Rembrandt's development as an artist and is considered rare, as very few narrative paintings by Rembrandt are in private hands. The painting measures less than 10 inches tall and had been mistakenly attributed to Rembrandt's school in the past.
