Gabon’s opposition leader claims coup is a ‘family affair’

Gabon's main Opposition Leader, Albert Ondo Ossa, has claimed that the recent coup in the country is a "family affair" and a "palace revolution" aimed at keeping the ruling Bongo family in power. Soldiers seized power after President Ali Bongo was announced as the winner of the presidential poll, accusing him of rigging the results. Ossa stated that General Brice Oligui Nguema, who was sworn in as "President of the Transition," is Bongo's cousin. The opposition had previously praised the military for standing against what it called an "electoral coup" and urged them to complete the vote count.
